New Tropical Shakeology is VEGAN!

When Shakeology was introduced by Team Beachbody 2 years ago, I had no idea what a game changer it would be. See, ever since I started using Beachbody’s fitness programs in 2008, starting with Power 90, I decided to become a “shake guinea pig” that summer. The fact is, I have tried everything out there…MPH, BSN, VXP, Bodytech, Muscletech, Isagenix, Visalus, Mona Vie, Nutrex, Inner Armour, Muscle Pharm…I can keep going but the point is, I wanted to find the BEST, even what was OUTSIDE of my company! So, if someone says they have the “best”, I put it to the test, use it for a month or 2, and then decide for myself. When it comes to Shakeology, it is part of my breakfast and/or my preworkout shake. I don’t use it post workout because of the fiber content, but that’s what the Results and Recovery Formula and the Beachbody Protein Powder are for and with a Club or Coach discount, you will SAVE SAVE SAVE on your products, vs going to a health food or supplement store and spending WAYYY TOO MUCH.

Now, I went off on a rant there, sorry about that. I wanted to talk about the new VEGAN SHAKEOLOGY! Most likely in January, or if not then, at least in the first quarter of 2012, Beachbody is releasing this new TROPICAL FLAVOR! I am very excited about this, because Shakeology needs another flavor, but they had to get the formulation right. Some companies offer more flavors (I know of a few that offer like, EIGHT) but the fact is that our formulators, and especially our CEO wanted to get this right from the start. This is why we don’t have such flavors as vanilla. If you are using or thinking about using a vanilla flavored shake, you need to ask yourself how they achieve vanilla flavoring. Beachbody researched this issue and basically what they found is that it is IMPOSSIBLE for the superfoods, adaptogen herbs, anti-oxidants, phytonutrients and digestive enzymes to co-exist and taste good in a vanilla flavored shake, unless the vanilla flavor is achieved chemically and artificially! READ THAT AGAIN.  Understand that this is a  “dirty little secret” in the flavoring industry. Even if the labeling says “natural vanilla flavoring”, it’s because it’s a loophole in which the guidelines still allow this artificial flavoring to be called “natural”. The fact is that other companies are actually willing to use that labeling loophole for their benefit! But Beachbody does not, and that is why they took so much time to find the formulation.

So the question is really this: are you drinking the shake so that you can enjoy “vanilla” flavoring, or so that you can get the incredible health benefits from a shake that doesn’t taste like a “health drink”? This is why Beachbody calls Shakeology “the healthiest meal of the day”! The reason is because Shakeology is a shake that has the ingredients to live up to that claim.

Tropical Shakeology, coming in 2012!

The Vegan lifestyle is increasingly becoming more and more popular as the benefits of it are being researched and talked about. People are starting to listen to the facts of living this nutritionally sound way. Eating an all vegan diet is, in reality, more healthier for the human body. Here are just some of the many benefits to being vegan:

  • Healthy Weight Loss (as opposed to the unhealthy way…dieting/starving yourself)
  • Higher Energy Levels
  • Healthier Skin (which I talk about in the “Eat Right” page…check that out!)
  • Longevity
  • Less Body Odor
  • Reduction In Bad Breath
  • Healthier Hair
  • Reduction In PMS Symptoms
  • Alleviates Allergy Problems
  • Prevents Disease
  • And Much More
So, here’s the thing…even if you are not a vegan, or a vegetarian, after reading the list of benefits above, you ought to incorporate this lifestyle into your current eating habits or consider choosing this lifestyle option altogether is you wish. Our bodies deserve the best food and nutrition possible, if these means being a vegan, then so be it. That is up to you, I will not push the issue, I am just giving my own opinion.

Vegan VS Vegetarian

What is the difference between a vegetarian and vegan? It is simply that someone who is vegan does not eat anything that comes from a living animal. The major difference between vegetarian and vegan is dairy consumption. A vegetarian will, for example, eat a healthy slice of vegetable pizza with cheese, while a vegan will not.

Of course, it seems like it would be difficult to be 100% vegan. Your options are limited if you are ever traveling a lot. You will have to perfectly plan every meal. Because of this simple fact, the new vegan Shakeology will be a healthy snack or meal replacement that you will be able to take anywhere and have anytime. And the best news is, the vegan Shakeology flavor is Tropical, and is supposed to be the best tasting flavor out of the three flavors of Shakeology! :)
